Data Sets

Business and customer data is extremely important to a business. It provides valuable insights into customer preferences, demographics, buying habits, and other important information that can be used to make informed business decisions. This data can be used to develop targeted marketing campaigns, improve product offerings, and identify new opportunities for growth. Additionally, customer data can be used to improve customer service and build stronger relationships with customers. Having accurate and up-to-date business and customer data is essential for a business to be successful in today’s competitive market.

Data Sets In Jacktrade

Every business is unique and has its way of handling different tasks and processes. You may use data to capture and store different types of information that may support your day-to-day operations, strategy, and decision-making. Data sets have the value you put against the exposed data, for example:

  1. Reason to cancel an order.
  2. The reason why you are returning payment to the customer
  3. The type of customer you are dealing with
  4. Industry type that your customer belongs to
  5. Source of lead where you received the customer contact form.

Jacktrade provides the ability for various data sets to reference a list where businesses can set data as they prefer. Data is exposed in almost every module of Jacktrade. Data sets provide functionality for businesses to have

  1. Pre-set data is available for more effective data management that matches their business processes.
  2. Unique data that is meaningful to your business.

Preset data is used to set an initial set of data and inserted it into a new customer’s database to get their life started quickly and effectively. Values are set up per Data Set List in each function. For example, in Quotes (function), reasons are set up differently for the Data Set List for Quotes cancellation and Quote void. In the above example, the function would be ‘Quotes’, the Data Set List would be ‘Quote Cancellation’ and the reason would be ‘Lack of competitive differentiation.

Data Set List Change Management

When any of the reasons are updated in the Data Set List, it is also directly updated everywhere in the application including active and archived data. This is before all the data sources reference reasons from the Data Set List, instead of storing local copies of the reason.

Example: If the reason for Quote cancelation is updated in the Reason list, all the records using the same reason will also be updated.

On Updating: The system will let the user know that the update reason will be changed for all the active and archived data sets.

On Deleting: When any of the reasons is deleted or disabled, the system will request the user to select any of the existing reasons for the same Data Set List to be replaced in the active and archived data set. It will be mandatory for the user to select an alternative reason in order to delete or disable a particular reason.

There are certain reasons that are not removable in the Data Set List per list. This is done because either the key is tied to the system code (like delivery status in Fulfillment) or it’s done because you do not want an empty selection box or drop-down especially if it’s a mandatory field.
