Service Rates

Jacktrade allows you to set up rates per service type listed above. Setting up rates allows the business to build quick quotations with uniform pricing. The rates are defined per region in order to manage the currencies.

There are different types of rates that Jacktrade supports. Here we shall go over each of the rate types and which service types support which rate types.

Flat Rate

A flat rate is a rate per day. If a flat rate is set, then it won’t matter how many service hours you have, a flat rate will be charged per day in the estimates.

For example, if the flat rate for resource type X is set to $160.00 and there is a 2 days service with 6 hours each day. Then a flat rate of $160.00 x 2 = $320.00 is applied for the resource type X.

Flat rate is supported in the following service types:

  1. Resource Types
  2. Transportation Types
  3. Equipment Types
  4. Scope Of Work
  5. Additional Services

Hourly Rate

Hourly rate is the rate applied per hour of service. Here the number of hours the service is scheduled for is considered and multiplied by the rate set for hourly. For example – if the hourly rate for resource type X is set to $25.00 and there are 2 days of service with 6 hours each day. Then the hourly rate of $25.00 x 12 = $300.00 is applied for resource type X.

Hourly rate is supported in the following service types –

  1. Resource Types
  2. Transportation Types
  3. Equipment Types
  4. Scope Of Work

Composite Rate Type

The composite rate provides a flexible way of setting up pricing. It allows you to charge the customer’s X rate for the initial A number of hours and Y rate for the remaining hours.

For example, if the composite rate for the initial 4 hours is set to $20.00 and the remaining hours to $30.00 for resource type X and there is 2 days of service with 6 hours each day. Then the composite rate of ($20.00 x 4)+ ($30.00 x 12) = $440.00 is applied for resource type X.

Composite rate is supported in the following service types –

  1. Resource Types
  2. Transportation Types
  3. Equipment Types
  4. Scope Of Work

Percentage Rate

The percentage Rate is only applicable to Additional Services. This calculates the percentage of the service type on which the additional service is added. For example – if the percentage rate of 10% is set for an additional service associated with resource type and the total resources cost in the service is supposed to be $500.00. Then the additional service cost will be calculated as 10% on $500.00 which is $50.00.

Line Haul Cost

Line haul charge refers to the cost of transportation. The transport, i.e. the shipping cost, is based on the distance between the pickup and destination. Line haul charge does not include loading and unloading of freight. These apply to long-distance transportation. This is a one-time cost applied when you are transportation or equipment types in your estimates.

Line haul cost is supported in the following service types –

  1. Transportation type
  2. Equipment types

Distance Cost

Distance cost is set per transportation type and in set distance metric. You can set the metric to miles or kilometers. While adding the estimates, you can enter the distance value and it shall calculate the distance cost based on the rate set.

For example, if the distance rate is set to $12.00 per mile and the total distance of the service is 100 miles then the distance cost will be calculated as $12.00 x 100 = $1200.00.

Distance cost and line haul cost are added to the transportation cost and equipment cost only. Basically the total transportation/Equipment cost = Transportation/Equipment cost + Line Haul Cost + Distance Cost.

Distance cost is supported in the following service types –

  1. Transportation type
  2. Equipment type.
